Hollywood Forever Day of The Dead Celebration
This was my fifth year attending The Day of The Dead celebration at the historic Hollywood Forever Cemetery in West Hollywood. The event is hard to explain to anyone who has never attended. The event consists of traditional altars, art exhibits, food, music, face painting and costumes. One thing is for sure "it is the largest party in a cemetery you will ever experience".
A few tips for those who have never been before. Parking is always a challenge so the sooner you get there the better. Bring a flashlight, toilet paper and hand sanitizer, the only restrooms are porta potties. The entrance on Santa Monica Blvd. is usually pretty crowded, instead use the entrance on Gower St. After you've seen the art and altars in the daylight make sure you go back during the evening. Many have a completely different look and vibe.
