Little Mermaids Underwater Portraits
My first underwater mermaid portraits.
It was an absolute pleasure photographing these adorable mermaids on my first mermaid portrait shoot. We shot this in my friends pool while I was visiting the mainland. The girls had a blast and I did too. It reminded me of when I was a kid and played for hours in my family pool with my cousin. We would pretend we were dolphins or marine biologists. What I would give to have a mermaid tail then.
It surprised me too how easy it was for the girls to swim with a monotail. Monofins and tails can be found on Amazon or Ebay. Fin Fun is makes a pretty good quality and has an assortment of colors and sizes along with a removable monofin.
I always have fun when I get to break out my underwater camera housing. For this photo-shoot I used my Sony A7 with CamDive housing. CamDive is a great option for anyone interested in underwater photography. CamDive housing are affordable, lightweight and many options for newer DSLR, mirrorless, and compact camera options. The only negative for the Sony A7 model is that there is no lens port so I'm limited on my lens options and some camera features are not accessible. I ended up not needing my underwater strobes and used only natural light.
The photos of the girls screaming were my favorite. It was actually their idea.
