Maternity Boudoir Studio Portraits
I had the pleasure of collaborating with professional makeup artist Linda Dickenson with Makeup Artistry by www.makeupartistrybylinda.com Linda’s friend and model Halea. When she walked into my studio, I almost screamed with excitement. Even without makeup, her beauty was striking. She has stunning eyes, gorgeous hair, and a big beautiful baby bump.
Even though the shoot was planned as an editorial beauty shoot, I asked if I could also capture some photos with her belly. She graciously agreed. Halea was born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii. I noticed a tattoo across her chest in Hawaiian which read “He ‘a’ali’i ku makani mai au, ‘a’ohe makani nana e kula’i “ it means “I am the flower that stands with the wind, the wind cannot knock me down.” It was too beautiful not to capture and celebrate. I used a creative lighting technique, modest retouching, and an electric powered leaf blower to feature and enhance her eyes, tattoo, and hair.
