Kona Honu Divers Underwater Shootout 2017
I decided to test out my underwater photography skills with model Evelyn Frost so I entered the Kona Honu Divers Photography Shootout. Despite the fact that we shot this in a small pool in 4 feet deep water and other swimmers I love the photos. Our concept was a beautiful woman underwater wearing a red dress and holding a bright lantern. I love how her hair which is normally more of a brown above water looked red. I’m glad I was able to get a few images with the lantern shining. I put a small portable LED light in a Zip Lock bag, unfortunately it didn’t hold that well and my light was not waterproof. Oh well lesson learned. I can’t wait to try out my underwater skills in some deeper water.
I wasn’t sure which category to add my images to since my subject was not a fish. I went with the macro and wide angle lens category. I didn’t win the grand prize that honor went to fellow photographer Bo Pardau who is an amazing underwater photographer. I did, however, win a new set of fins for my next diving adventure, so I was happy.
